Who designed the skis?
This ski was designed by one of our Grade 8 students, Harriet. She is a talented graphic design artist who worked on this design for a considerable amount of time. Harriet’s design was selected from a number of entries from our current students who entered a “design a ski” competition. We had a huge range of entries and would like to thank them all for their submissions!
“I am a Grade 8 student at Beau Soleil. I started skiing when I first moved to Switzerland in 2019. My inspiration for the design came from the Dents du Midi mountains that we can see from school. They are an iconic symbol of Beau Soleil, and when the snow first appears they look amazing. The design process for the skis was challenging at times, but very interesting. I had a lot of different designs that I submitted to the competition. But the one they chose was this one. My original design had to be changed slightly due to the curve of the skis and the placing of the bindings. The designs went back and forth a lot of times! I am so pleased with the final result and can’t wait to see them in person.”
What is the design of?
The design is the outline of the famous Dent du Midi mountain range which is opposite Beau Soleil, that gives us the famous incredible sunsets we all know, remember and love. The tails have the school crest split across the skis consisting of a sun, a lion and a cross.
